This is the case for the same process mix (threshold slopes and linear diffusive mass wasting) for rapid erosion rates, showing a higher drainage density. Not apparent in these illustrations is that the overall relief in this landscape is much greater than for the previous landscape.
So the overall conclusion is that, depending upon the process mix in channels and on slopes, drainage density may increase, decrease, or remain nearly constant as erosion rate increases, although the overall relief and landscape steepness increases nearly linearly with erosion rate.
