The previous simulations have emphasized the case where the fluvial channels are bedrock floored. In this simulation the major channels are assumed to be sand-bed channels in which erosion rate is proportional to the divergence of sediment flux. Sand bed channels have low convexity, producing acute stream junction angles. Threshold gravel bed channels tend to have a profile convexity close to that of bedrock channels, so that simulated landscapes would have an appearance similar to the simulations shown earlier. Tucker and Bras (1998, op. Cit.) analyze how drainage density varies with erosion rate in the case of landscapes alluvial channel systems and find a similar pattern to the case of bedrock channels.
