Notes:
As downcutting continues, steep slopes in resistant rock outcrops are found here and there in the landscape. The drainage basin at “X” is lagging in downcutting rate as a result of resistant rock exposed at “Y”. This drainage basin will eventually be eliminated by divide migration as adjacent drainage basins without exposed resistant rock along their courses cannibalize basin “X”.
