A later stage. Note that that basin “X” has essentially disappeared and that the major divide has shifted towards to the top of the picture. The location of major knots of exposed rock and steep slopes shifts during downcutting as different rocks become exposed. Also, the major rock outcrops tend to become concentrated at and near divides.
