Preliminary attempts have also been made to simulate the topographic evolution of meandering channels. This diagram shows a section of simulated floodplain. Portions of the floodplain that are active channel or have been recently occupied by the meandering channel are yellow, progressing through reds, greens to blues for areas of the floodplain that have been occupied less recently. Areas not occupied by the channel during the simulation are white.
