Notes:
Incorporation of landsliding and debris flow processes in landscape evolution models is another challenge. Issues that would need to be addressed include 1) controls on landslide initiation by rock and regolith properties; 2) hydrologic and topologic control of landsliding; 3) triggering events (heavy rain and/or earthquakes); 4) downslope routing of the resulting debris flow; erosion (bulking up and bedrock scour) and eventual deposition of the debris flow; and 5) reworking of the debris flow deposits by normal fluvial processes.
